Teaching/Tutoring

Lewis is a well established Double Bass teacher holding posts in many different schools including; Visiting Teacher of Double Bass at Uppingham School, Visiting Teacher of Double Bass at King's Ely, Visiting Teacher of Double Bass at St John’s College School in Cambridge, Visiting Teacher of Double Bass at the Stephen Perse Foundation in Cambridge, Double Bass Tutor for Saffron Centre for Young Musicians and he also teaches privately.

Lewis has a fresh fun outlook on teaching, tailoring his lessons individually to each student, by taking this approach Lewis has maintained his 100% pass rate. He enters his students for ABRSM, Trinity and MTB practical examinations if they ready and willing.

Lewis works with youth orchestras and string orchestras. He rehearses and conducts the Intermediate Strings ensemble at the Saffron Centre for Young Musicians and runs string sectionals with the Uppingham School Chamber Orchestra.

As well as teaching, Lewis tutors on orchestral courses including the NLMS Music Summer School and the Musicale Summer Course in Cambridge where he co-directed the main orchestra and conducted the string orchestra in 2018.​
